About

I’m a husband, a father, and a pastor.  I have been tasked with directing the community groups at Grace Community Church (and though I’m on staff there, these thoughts are mine and are not necessarily reflective of Grace Community Church), and have the privilege of serving with some truly amazing pastors.  This is one of those dream jobs for me.  You know, one of those jobs that you hope to have after you’ve been working for ten or twenty years.  It’s something that’s over my head…I’ve been given more responsibility than I’ve earned.  It’s a challenge every day, and I love it.  I have tons to learn, and Grace is a wonderful place for my wife and me to learn and grow.

I have recently graduated from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. My focus was in Theology and Biblical Counseling, and my passion lies in helping people apply the Word of God to their lives, right in the middle of life’s biggest questions and heartaches. I truly believe that the Word of God is sufficient to expose our weaknesses and equip us for every good work (2 Timothy 3:17; 2 Peter 1:3-4). There is no problem outside of the scope of God’s gracious care and provision, and His Word acts as a lamp to lead us on the path that honors Him (Psalm 119:11).

I am also finding a great interest in leadership.  My role at the church is to lead people (which is just another way of saying, “I’m a pastor), and so lots of my blogging has begun to center around my successes and failures in leadership.

I have found a great outlet for my thoughts in writing.  I enjoy the whole process, from gathering the information, to processing it, and to communicating it in an artful way that challenges norms and stretches people to think differently about life.  My blog is a snapshot of me.  It’s a compliation of how I think and process life.  Sometimes it’s random, sometimes it’s a few bullet points.  Sometimes it’s a picture and sometimes a song.  But it’s always me.

In addition to writing, I enjoy golfing, running, biking.  I have recently become interested in gardening.  I love to go on dates with my wife, laugh with her, and show her that I treasure her above all others.  I also like to do goofy things to make my son laugh.

Thanks for journeying through life with me.
